Bill Johnston was a Minister in the Government of Western Australia for seven years, from 2017 until 2023, during a 16 year career in the Western Australian Parliament as the Member for Cannington from 2008 until 2025.

Bill is currently working as a Non-Executive Director and Strategic Advisor for a number of Western Australian businesses in the mining and energy sectors, while also contributing to the Not For Profit Sector. He is Chair of the Burswood Park Board and a Member of the Western Australian Gaming and Wagering Commission.

Prior to entering Parliament, Bill was the General Secretary of the WA Labor Party, a senior official of the Shop, Distributive and Allied Employees’ Association (the union for retail and warehouse employees) and a Commonwealth Public Servant. He has 40 years’ experience in Boards and Committees across training, Not For Profits and community organisations.
