In January, the Freight and Logistics Council’s Chair and Executive Officer both had the opportunity to ride in Aurizon’s freight train on the journey from Kwinana to North Quay Rail Terminal at Fremantle Port.
The viewpoint from the locomotive provided an excellent way to see freight rail operational issues first hand, how the noise mitigation systems in place operate and the current network constraints.
We also saw firsthand the level of encroachment on the freight rail corridor, which highlights further the need to ensure that freight corridors and freight and logistics land is protected in order to provide for effective and efficient supply chains now and into the future.
We would like to thank Aurizon for the opportunity, with a special thank you to our drivers who provided a us with an insight into their daily work and answered our wide-ranging questions.
