COVID-19 UPDATE MAY 11

Here’s what we’re working on:

  • We are developing an Industry response for inclusion in the National COVID-19 Co-ordination Commissions advice, they are preparing for the Prime Minister, about initiatives in the freight sector that can assist with economic recovery post COVID-19.
  • We have created a working group to look at developing a Recovery Phase Framework and Principles.  This model will build upon our scenario planning and previous strategic work we have done, to benefit the whole supply chain during the recovery phase.
  • Through our food security work, we have been looking at the potential impacts to local communities once the intrastate border restrictions are lifted.

For travel into and through South Australia, you are now required to keep records of close contacts. A person is a close contact of another person if they are in the company of the other person:

  1. Within an enclosed space for a period of 2 hours or longer; or
  2. Within 1.5 metres of the other person for a period of 15 minutes or longer.

In Western Australia, as part of the Governments phased plan to further ease COVID-19 restrictions, a number of changes come into effect from May 18 including regional travel restrictions being relaxed in a staged manner.

As part of Phase 2, regional travel restrictions will also change, bringing the number of current borders within Western Australia from 13 to only four (not including the Commonwealth Biosecurity zone and remote communities). The new regional boundaries will allow:

  • travel between the South-West, Great Southern, Wheatbelt, Perth and Peel regions;
  • travel between the Mid-West, Gascoyne and Pilbara regions (excluding Biosecurity zone);
  • travel within the Goldfields-Esperance region (excluding the Biosecurity zone);
  • travel permitted within the Kimberley local government areas (the Commonwealth’s Biosecurity zone remains in place).
