Work is continuing on the development of the Federal Government’s National Freight and Supply Chain Strategy. The 20-year strategy builds on the outcomes of the Inquiry into National Freight and Supply Chain Priorities, and will provide a road map to position Australia’s freight infrastructure for significant growth in the freight task.
The project team recently held industry focus groups across the country and were in Perth on 3rd December to test key elements recommended for the Strategy. There was a strong level of engagement, with representatives from industry, State and Local government.
Accompanying the Strategy will be a National Action Plan and attendees at the focus group had the opportunity to comment on the goals and objectives for the Strategy, along with the actions and measures of success in the National Action Plan.
The Federal Government will finalise the Strategy and Action Plan in the first half of 2019, following which each State and Territory will develop their own Implementation Plans.
