Decarbonisation in the freight industry

The FLCWA is working with the Department of Transport in developing an engagement strategy on the pathway to decarbonising the freight industry and particularly the road freight sector. This is in line with the wider State Government’s Sectorial Emission Reduction Strategy to make WA emission free by 2050.

The engagement will be built around:

1. Providing industry with clear messaging on resent research.
2. Eliciting from the road freight sector feedback on the findings in the research.
3. Seeking feedback on how road freight companies might address the transition from fossil fuels and the timing of this.

The outcome from this engagement is intended to provide a better understanding of the barriers to the adoption of new technology and alternative fuels and policy opportunities to address these barriers.
