David Wright, General Manager Bulk Western Australia, has been with Aurizon for over 11 years. Prior to moving to Perth, David was responsible for Aurizon’s Bulk (Bulk East) business in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria. In addition to rail operations and maintenance, the Bulk East business included port services across six locations, with portside terminal operations supporting Bulk and Containerised services, as well as Bulk Material Handling and Shiploading in Newcastle. It also included 14 multi-modal terminals and an extensive road freight business in two states.
He has been responsible for several acquisitions and business integrations during his time with Aurizon, which includes Aurizon’s entry into the port operations space in Australia. Prior to Aurizon, David worked for Queensland Nickel across a number of different portfolios.
He has extensive experience with large workforces and business improvement across multiple industries. David’s role in Western Australia covers all of Aurizon’s operating and maintenance footprint with a workforce in excess of 1,200 people.
